Shoko Festival coordinators held a presser at Moto Republic this morning to notify that the event will kick off as expected.
Shoko Festival is one of the events that were under threat due to the raging cholera outbreak. Last week Casper Nyovest and Prince Kaybee’s gig was canceled and Ammara and Mr. Eazi’s show was also canceled due to the epidemic. However, Shoko Festival has been saved although it is taking place the same weekend as the pegged date for Ammara’s show.
Shoko Festival promises flames
Samm Farai Munro better known as Cde Fatso, Shoko Festival Director highlighted his excitement over the green light given to them. Cde Fatso gave his assurance that Shoko Festival is going to offer nothing but flames. He stated that the 3-day event which happening from Friday 28 September to Sunday 30 September will be give the best activities. He promised that this weekend will be packed with so many activities and fun and that the Saturday and Sunday events are free and everyone and that people should come in their numbers.
The headline acts are South Africa’s Moonchild Sanelly who is known for featuring on Dj Maphorisa’s massive hit Midnight Starrin, Iwalk Ye Phara and Makhe. Zim Hip Hop’s finest Asaph known for KingsVilla2 and 25. Asaph and Moonchild are going to perform on Saturday at Harare City Library and Sunday at Unit L in Chitungwiza. Farhan Esat is also another headlining act who is going to perform at Shoko comedy night set for Reps Theatre on Friday.
Shoko Festival pushes for cleanliness
Shoko Festival has taken it upon themselves to also cover health awareness as they will be distributing hand sanitizers, water guard and fresh water as highlighted by Kimberly Kute the event organizer.
Content creation with mobile phones
The Hub Unconference is also another event which will highlight the importance of phones in this digital era and in content creation. This event is supposed to attract 500 participants and over 25 trainers and speakers from across the country. The Hip Hop Summit will facilitate the interaction between local and international artists to discuss possibilities of growth and sustainability in the market. Shoko Festival has brought in a realization that Hip Hop is embraced by the youth and this Festival will bridge the gap between artists in the world.
Peace In The Hood
The main event in Chitungwiza will be supported by a Norwegian group Awesomnia and Tamy Moyo. Zimbabwean artists like Guspy warrior, Ricky Fire, Hombakadzi, Tulk Munny and Jam Signal. The theme for this event is “Peace In the Hood” which is already portraying the hype in Chitungwiza.
Why are some of the events free, will security be guaranteed?
Cde Fatso highlighted that they are focusing on promoting “dope” music hence the more people who will attend the better. He also added that people should sign up on their website so as to confirm their attendance which will make them know if they need to adjust their security.
